Galway Childcare Committee wish to invite childminders in Galway city and county to a Paediatric First Aid course (including defibrillation training) via Zoom over two evenings, on Tuesday 30th November and Wednesday 1st December from 7 to 9pm.

6:45pm: Welcome and Introduction
7.00pm: Paediatric First Aid Training with Instructor Stephanie Lawrence
9:00pm: Finish


Instructor's Bio and course information as follows:

Instructor Stephanie Lawrence is a First Aid Responder Instructor, Registered Children's Nurse, Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability and Childcare facility owner.
This course is designed to introduce participants to the principles of Paediatric First Aid. It is designed to enable the learner to: Understand the responsibilities of being a first aider and to provide treatment prior to the emergency services when needed. CPR and operation of AED defibrillators for Adult, Child and Infants is provided through a video and one to one practice skills is also provided.
The contents of the course includes: assessing a situation, basic Life Support, CPR and defib use, chocking, shock, fractures, wounds and bleeding, head injuries, sprains and strains, medical emergencies, paediatric minor illness and injuries.
This course is suited to staff members who work with children and adults who need a basic understanding of Paediatric First Aid in the workplace.
The method of delivering this course is interactive online through Zoom over two evenings with a half hour practical demonstration of a skill i.e., CPR and Defib use.
On completion of the course the successful participant will receive a certificate in Paediatric First Aid, which is valid for two years.
