Parents: Enrol now to avail of ECCE Free Pre-school Scheme this September

Children born between the 2nd of February 2006 and 30th of June 2007 are eligible for a free pre-school place (ECCE Scheme) from September 2010.

Children should be enrolled at their local pre-school or crèche in order to avail of the free scheme when the service opens in September. Parents who have not enrolled their eligible child to date should contact their local pre-school or crèche as soon as possible.

The free pre-school year in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) is designed to give children access to a year of programme-based activities in the year before they start primary school.

Mary Giblin, Coordinator, Galway City & County Childcare Committee advises that "parents should enrol their child in their chosen childcare service as soon as possible if they wish them to avail of the ECCE scheme this September. Galway City & County Childcare Committee Development Officers are available to answer any questions parents may have about the free pre-school scheme, so please call us at 091 752039."

A list of services participating in the ECCE scheme may be viewed on www.galwaychildcare.com.

If you have any questions about the ECCE scheme, call Galway City & County Childcare Committee at 091 752039 or email mail@galwaychildcare.com.
