Celebrating Childminding Week in Galway

Childminding Week 2012 will be celebrated at the annual Childminders’ Seminar and Network Lunch on Saturday, 28th April in the Carlton Hotel from 9.30 a.m.– 2.30 p.m. Galway City & County Childcare Committee invites Childminders to celebrate and acknowledge their profession by attending this very informative seminar, with workshops on the “Importance of Outdoor Play and Developing Your Outdoor Area” by Eco Envolve and “Making Music Fun” delivered by expert Deirdre Stephens, who has devised an introductory workshop especially for Childminders. Breda McCarthy, Team Leader, HSE Pre-school Services will also present a special talk to inform Childminders of the latest updates in the regulations.

Nationally, Childminding Week is an opportunity to focus on the quality care given at the heart of a home by notified Childminders and to encourage childminders and the children in their care to focus on imaginative learning. Galway City & County Childcare Committee offers ongoing support to Childminders and invites parents to view some of their good work on www.galwaychildcare.com.

The annual seminar is traditionally well attended by Childminders eager to network and learn new skills to enhance the time children spend in their care. Colette Coughlan, Childminder Advisory Officer, Galway City & County Childcare Committee encourages all Childminders and potential Childminders to participate. According to Colette, “Childminding Week in Galway is an opportunity for Childminders or those who are interested in starting a childminding service to network, learn and share their experience and knowledge. The annual Childminders’ Seminar offers pertinent information to Childminders to enhance the calibre of care offered to children in their services”.

Early booking is essential. There is a nominal €10 charge for the seminar (including lunch).
